SCHOOL TRIP FOR CARLOS AND SHANE

Town players Carlos Edwards and Shane O’Connor went to Thomas Wolsey School in Ipswich this week to meet a class who have been coming to Portman Road every Tuesday to take part in the 10-week Playing for Success programme.

Playing for Success (PfS) is a national ‘out of hours learning’ programme designed to raise achievement in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills in 11 to 14 year olds. The programme uses sport as a key device to help improve skills and raise self-esteem and levels of motivation in students involved on the course.

Both Carlos and Shane took the time to visit the students at their school, sign a few autographs, chat with the pupils and answer some questions, as well as taking part in an interview led by one of the students.

“It was good to get the chance to meet the youngsters and they had obviously enjoyed the time they spent with the Community Trust” said Carlos.

Community Trust PfS Manager Elizabeth Newby added “The students really enjoyed meeting the players as well as getting the opportunity to ask a few questions too.”
