Students who have been taking part in the Community Trust’s Playing for Success programme were rewarded for their hard work over the past 10 weeks, when four Ipswich Town players came along to meet and congratulate them for their efforts.
Pablo Counago, Jack Colback, Grant Leadbitter and Jon Walters spent time with all six classes, answering their questions, having pictures taken and signing autographs.
Town Captain Jon Walters said “This is another great initiative run by the Community Trust and it was a good opportunity for us to show our support and meet the student who have been involved over the past 10-weeks.”
Playing for Success (PfS) is a national out of hours learning programme designed to raise achievements in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills for key stage 2 & 3 pupils. The programme works to use sport and the environment as a way of raising attainment, confidence, self-esteem and motivation for all the youngsters involved.
Students from The Oaks Primary, Chantry High, Kesgrave High, Farlingaye High, Stoke High and The Willows Primary have been taking part in the programme for the past 10 weeks, giving up their own time to come along to the IT Learning Zone at Portman Road.

Community Trust PfS Manager Elizabeth Newby said: “All the students have worked really hard over the past 10 weeks and this was their reward. Most of them are either fans of Ipswich Town or fans of football in general, so it was a real treat for them to meet the Ipswich Town players.”
